Corporal Punishment can be a gateway to more severe forms of abuse, especially physical abuse. Physical abuse is typically defined as a physical attack on a child that results in an injury.  One of the best ways to protect children is to become an Enlightened Witness for a child. This simply means if a child comes to you and presents themselves in the need of help you should stop and listen to what they have to say. Sometimes the best thing to do is bear witness to what a child is going through.

If you suspect a child in danger you should immediately contact your local Child Protective Service.
